Tulshimala rice is a brand product of Sherpur district at Mymensingh division in Bangladesh. This rice is the local product of Sherpur district. This has been treated as a special rice to cook food for festivals or special occasions. Like Polao, Biriyani, Fried rice, Finni, Payesh and others. But many people use the rice daily meal. The speciality of this rice is its beautiful aroma which makes it extraordinary among others. The cooked rice is little bit sticky and it takes less amount of water then other rice to cook. For this sticky quality, it’s best to use in making deshi pitha; like- patishapta, vapa etc.
It’s has a local history that Zaminders gave this to English as token of gift. Still the legacy goes on. Whenever the husband of daughter pay a visit in in-laws home, they got few kgs of Tulshimala rice as token of love. Though it’s a local brand of Sherpur, currently it has a huge demand in all over the country. In Women and e-Commerce forum ( WE ), Md Daloare Hossain introduced this special rice to It’s members. Now a large number of them purchase this regularly from him and they become the goodwill ambassador of this rice.
