Syeda Luthfun Nahar: Proper nutritious food plays a vital role for growth. Also what they feed in that time, they become used to that food and it’s taste. So, worldwide nutritionists advise the parents to feed them those foods which are easily available.

In our country, we have a tendency to give them imported food  and want to have a mental satisfaction that we are doing the best we can. The result is it’s costly, not available in our next door shops, nobody can confirm the quality and above all it’s costly.

But we have the solution in our own grip. We can give them the food that we eat in our daily life. The cooking process is a little bit different than usual as the child’s digest system is not as mature as adult food. After six months of age, we may give children “Jaou Vat / Khichuri” cooked with raw papaya, pumpkin, mashed potato, chicken slices, fish. Because of this time they are introduced to solid food. So, parents start with semi solid food.

The greatest problem of this time, children do not want to eat this food. As these are new to their taste buds and not similar to milk/water to swallow. But we found that Tulshimala rice works as a solution for this age old problem. As the rice is a little bit sticky and aromatic, little children love to eat that. Also if it is cooked with mentioned vegetables they have not faced any trouble in digestion.
